Heart-felt Prayer: Finding God in the small voice of conscience – sweet prayer.
Have you ever been talking to someone and they’re glancing at their watch or phone as if to say: ‘I shouldn’t be here;’ or perhaps the conversation ends with an answer that’s not even relevant to what’s been said, leading you to conclude they’re not listening or interested in what you have to say, it can be a hurtful experience. I don’t know about you, but I have to admit that I am guilty of this – a poor listener, so it’s not surprising then that the same happens when I’m praying to God. Yet, common sense tells me if we really want to know someone, the most natural thing is to listen with interest; which I know should be the same with God. But instead, being preoccupied with my own interests, I keep Him waiting like an unwanted salesman, and sadly miss out on those special moments which the prophet Elijah experienced when he said: “I did not find the Lord in the strong wind; the earthquake; the fire; but in the still small voice, that spoke to me. Today God’s voice speaks to us when we read the bible, or simply in the silence of our heart, when we listen and act on His inspirations in the small voice of Conscience…………………………………….
